Wow! Great Article!!! For my birthday my brother bought me Steve Maraboli's new book, Life the Truth and Being Free... in it i found a piece that goes a long with this article! I thought id share :) Get Off The Scale!

You are beautiful. Your beauty, just like your capacity for life, happiness, and success, is immeasurable. Day after day, countless people across the globe get on a scale in search of validation of beauty and social acceptance.

Get off the scale! I have yet to see a scale that can tell you how enchanting your eyes are. I have yet to see a scale that can show you how wonderful your hair looks when the sun shines its glorious rays on it. I have yet to see a scale that can thank you for your compassion, sense of humor, and contagious smile. Get off the scale because I have yet to see one that can admire you for your perseverance when challenged in life.

It’s true, the scale can only give you a numerical reflection of your relationship with gravity. That’s it. It cannot measure beauty, talent, purpose, life force, possibility, strength, or love. Don’t give the scale more power than it has earned. Take note of the number, then get off the scale and live your life. You are beautiful!

Perfect timing! I recently hopped on the scale after a month-long hiatus from the damn thing and saw that I had gained 8 pounds. I was floored. 8 freaking pounds?! I'm a girl and as everyone knows, most girls weigh themselves naked to see the lowest possible number. It's an unhealthy obsession. Anyways, after the initial 8-pound-shock wore off, I got to thinking about how good I had been feeling (before I stepped on the scale) and how much stronger (been doing strength bias) I had become. Hell, I thought that I looked like I dropped 10 pounds and was feeling pretty lean. I decided then and there that the scale was just a stupid gadget that was more suited to weighing boxes and babies.

Sounds more like the problem lies with the person on the scale than the scale itself? On my side however, I'm a cyclist, and I need to have the lowest weight to the highest strength ratio, where my scale comes in very handy; it measures my body fat, water, muscle and bone mass percentages and also my recommended calorie intake. I do agree with you that what your weight shows doesn't mean that your healthy, overweight or underweight, but yet again that is the person and not the scale.
